Cat and Dog Boarding Requirements at Country Club Animal Hospital

All of our cat and dog boarding guests must be up-to-date on their vaccinations before coming to our animal hospital. If your pet is not our patient, please bring an invoice or other document confirming that they’ve had their vaccinations within the year. Unfortunately, if the required documentation has not been provided prior arrival, the pet may not board at our facility. If your veterinarian finds it in the best interest of the pet to not have the required tests or vaccines, a signed letter from your veterinarian must be provided and approved prior to arrival.

If you would like Country Club Animal Hospital to bring your pet up to date on the requirements for cat and dog boarding at our location, we will be happy to do so. Legally, in order for us to establish a veterinary/patient/client relationship, a physical exam is required prior to us being able to administer the necessary tests and vaccines. There will be a charge for each of these services.

Our required vaccines and tests include:

Dogs

  • Rabies
  • Distemper/ Hepatitis/ Parvo/ Parainfluenza
  • Bordetella (kennel cough)
  • Negative fecal test within the last 6 months

Cats

  • Rabies
  • Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis/ Calicivirus/ Panleukopenia
  • Negative Feline Leukemia/ FIV test
*for positive cat isolation, boarding is available (ask within for more details and requirements)
  • Negative fecal test within the year

Unlike many other animal hospitals in Miami, South Miami and Coral Gables, we also accept non-neutered dogs as boarding guests. If you believe that your pet will become rowdy or destructive, please ask your veterinarian about giving your pet a mild sedative. If your pet has fleas or flea dirt on their skin, we will need to administer a Capstar flea adulticide (for a small fee) to ensure that no cross-contamination occurs with other guests. Additionally, pets with ticks will receive a tick adulticide and a special bath (at additional expense), no exceptions.

Overnight Dog & Cat Monitoring

Pets that are ill or recovering from surgery need to stay overnight at our animal hospital for close monitoring. Since we always have a staff member on-site, you’re more than welcome to call after-hours to check in on your pet. We know how stressful it is to leave your companion under these circumstances. Therefore, we are happy to inform our clients about their pets’ progress after hours and ease their concerns.
